A long time ago, when the world was being formed, the High God created
a certain Lady, given the name of Mishakal. She was chosen as the healing
goddess, goddess of true love and light. Married to Paladine, the Platinum
Dragon, she gave birth to three sons: first Kiri-Jolith and Habbakuk,
twins, and Solinari. Habbakuk created an animal especially for her: the
dolphin.
In the night sky, her constellation of the Healing Hand, an Infinity Strip,
reminds her followers and all of the light that she will love them and
protect them forever. She is forever fighting the will of Morgion, evil
god of death and decay, who tries to thwart her efforts to heal the land.
Before the Cataclysm, nearly every town had a cleric of Mishakal as a
healer. They tended to the populations' health and well-being. Before
the Chaos War, her priests tried to renew this custom.
She now accepts worshippers again, granting them a sign of the Healing
Hand. But there are also those who gain her true favor, and to them she
grants a tattoo of a spiraling blue hand. It contains a small portion of her
healing powers.
To be permitted entrance into the one true Temple of the Healing Hand,
you must know that you must follow the path of light and lawfulness.
You cannot and must not ask her for admittance, she only grants it by
her own will. Those that seek to ask her will be denied entrance
immediately and forever.
The main goals of the High Priests and Priestesses of Mishakal are thus:
- To heal and protect those who are in need, provided they are not evil.
- To prevent evils from slaying those who cannot defend themselves well,
by means of healing.
- To follow Mishakal's orders, should she have any.
- To oppose any followers of Morgion, Lord of Death and Decay, who is
Mishakal's immortal enemy.
Those of the Temple can be distinguished from others only by the tattoo
which they bear, the true symbol of Mishakal's divine favor.
