This command can be used to perform the most basic ranged shot and does not
require specializing in ranged weapons (it still requires the knowledge of
a ranged weapon skill though). You must be wielding a ranged weapon and you
must have it loaded (see help 'arm'). There are three ways for this command
to be used:
* Targeted shot, specified destination
Syntax example: "shoot 2.west dummy"
In this case, you will shoot at a dummy that is situated two rooms to
the west from you. Note that if your shot misses, it may accidentally
hit another target in the room.
* Targeted shot, specified direction
Syntax example: "shoot west dummy"
You will shoot at a nearest dummy in your shooting range to the west.
* Non-targeted (random) shot
Syntax example: "shoot 2.west"
You will send an arrow to the room that is two rooms away to the west,
hoping that it hits something. Random shots deal less damage and have
a high chance of missing, but this way you can hit invisible targets...
or your allies. Factors affecting to-hit chance include but are not
limited to the total number of people in the room and the size of
targets.
Note: To make a non-targeted shot one room away, use "1.". "shoot 1.east"
will send an arrow to the room that is one room away and to the east.
There are three special options for the direction argument:
* "HERE"
Refers to the room where you are at the moment. This option cannot be
used for non-targeted shots.
* "SKY"
Refers to the room in flight area above you. You cannot shoot at flying
targets if you are inside a building. This option cannot be used for
non-targeted shots.
* "GROUND"
Refers to the whole area below you, if you are shooting from the flight
area. You cannot target people who are inside buildings. This option
cannot be used for non-targeted shots.
Note: if a player has practiced 'aimed shot' skill, then 'shoot' command will
automatically target the selected bodypart.
