'residuum'
Scholars disagree on the nature of residuum. Some claim it to be divine ash -
the purified remains of magic once touched by Sirrion's fire. Others insist it
is condensed essence from the rift the Order of the Transmuted Flame created,
the echo of power that slipped through when their experiments tore the veil.
What is certain is that residuum hums faintly when held near enchanted objects
and glows with a steady, living light when exposed to flame. Priests refuse to
name it sacred, wizards refuse to call it safe, and alchemists merely call it
useful.
Legends whisper that the Order used residuum to reshape matter, heal what was
broken, and even bind souls to their chosen relics. Whether it is blessing or
blasphemy depends, perhaps, on who holds the flame.
