A moonwell is a magical pool of moisture drawn from the astral plane and
connecting great distances across space and time. A pool is anchored at
one end to the caster's room, and emerges at the other end in a room where
the specified victim is located. The conduit that forms can be entered by as
many people as can fit before the pool fades away. (The 'enter' command is
used for travelling through a moonpool).
For a moonpool to work both the druid and the victim must be in forest rooms,
and they must not be prevented from connecting by magical blocks such as
anti-teleportation magic or divine curses.
However, there are druids who know of the moonstone, a fabled artifact created
from the same astral material as a moonpool. This stone can be used to
greatly enhanced the usefulness of a moonwell. Casting the moonstone spell
will create a stone for the caster to give to others. This stone is unique
to the caster and will return to the druid upon further re-casting of the
moonstone spell. Until then, the person holding the moonstone can act as
an anchor for a moonwell spell, allowing the druid to open a moonwell to the
victim even if that person is not in a forested room. However, regardless of
where the victim is and whether he or she carries a moonstone, the druid
must still be in a forest room for this spell to work.
Druids do not impart their knowledge of moonstones to their students, and
acquiring it is only possible through the study of an appropriate book or
manual.
