With the number of powerful mages guarding their hordes with spells,
the thief guildmasters became worried that many riches would lie beyond
the reach of common people. To solve this, they began training the most
skilled of thieves in the art of memorizing and recasting spells, so that
they could better understand and overcome the adversity of magic.
Thieves these days can now memorize spells by having a mage scribe the
spell into their special Thieves spellbook. The ability to retain the
spell is temporary and is lost once cast. However, it may be kept in
memory for as long as the thief likes.
To memorize a spell, a thief must have it "scribed" into his or her
spellbook by a mage. The thief then HOLDS the book and uses 'memorize'
to retain a spell. A spell may be memorized more than once, and any
number of spells memorized up to the thief's ability.
The SPELLS list will list a thief's currently memorized spells, and
looking at his/her spellbook will display the spells contained within it.
Blank spellbooks may be purchased in the Palanthas scribe shop.
Note: Not all spells may be learned by thieves, even though you can
scribe them.
