Hiddukel, the Lord of Lies, was born a long time ago, at the creation of the
gods by the High God. He was one of the principal gods in the beginning, teaching
the other deities of darkness how to lie, cheat, and deceive. However, none truly
mastered what was taught, and Hiddukel remained the greatest liar and trickster in
existence.
As civilisation developed, many mortal men were corrupted by Hiddukel's power, and
began to horde gold and material wealth for themselves. Some even chose to give their
souls to the god. Little did they know that their eternal essence would be traded in
deals to other evil gods. Hiddukel trades only in mortal souls, and can even come out
ahead in a deal with Takhisis.
Hiddukel still accepts the souls, and now gives those so devoted to him something in
return. A tattoo of a double-faced coin, symbol of his inherent trickery and deceitful
malice. The goals of the Shrine of Greed are such:
- To gain as much gold and silver as possible, so as to make bad deals with others.
- To lie, cheat, and swindle every mortal that they can.
- To sell everything they don't need in the quest for more gold.
- To oppose any followers of Shinare, goddess of true commerce and wealth.
Those who are in the Shrine of Greed know secrets which other mortals do not, and all
is told by Hiddukel when a new member is chosen.
