Ambush allows a ranger to make a sudden and
devastating attack on an unsuspecting victim. The
ranger must be camouflaged and unseen by the victim.
The default ambush type is an onslaught that inflict
the maximum damage possible. However, at higher
levels a ranger may add variations to the ambush to
deliver more specialized damage and effects.
onslaught: Attempt to deliver the maximum damage
possible.
cripple: (level 14): Deliver a crippling blow to the
victim.
distract: (level 16): Distract a victim who is fighting
and draw them to fight the ranger.
disarm: (level 18): Disarm the victim during the
ambush.
drive: (level 21): Drive the victim from the room
through brute force.
fade: (level 25): Attempt to fade back into the forest
after the ambush.
A ranger may use a simple ambush with no variations,
and it will default to an onslaught on the victim. Or
he/she may choose one or more types to add to the
ambush.
Example for ambushing "bob" with a crippling ambush
and then trying to fade :
ambush bob cripple fade
Example for ambushing "bob" with an onslaught, disarm
and drive:
ambush bob onslaught disarm drive
The more variations you add to the ambush, the more
difficult it becomes. High reflex saves help the
ambush, and high reflex saves will help the victim
avoid the ambush.
